Hair Transplant

People who experience hair loss for many different reasons can find an effective and permanent solution with hair transplantation. Thanks to the developments experienced today, it has become possible to obtain natural-looking results with the micro-surgical procedures made to the areas where the hair is sparse.

What is Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a method applied to people who experience hair loss to regain their hair and achieve a natural appearance. Hair loss can be caused by many different factors other than genetics. Hormonal imbalance, drug use, diseases or stress can cause hair loss.

Hair transplantation is a procedure in which the hair in the strong areas (usually the nape or behind the ears) is moved to the place of the lost hair or to the completely shed area using microsurgical methods. Since the transferred hair is the patient’s healthy hair without shedding, a permanent and natural appearance is achieved after the application.

Who is a Good Candidate for Hair Transplantation?

Approximately 50% of men over the age of 50 experience hair loss problems. Therefore, although hair transplantation is an operation performed mostly in men, many women may also face the problem of hair loss. Hair transplantation can be applied to men and women who have hair loss or thinning problems, regardless of gender.
Since hair transplantation is carried out by transferring the hair taken from the strong areas to the areas where shedding is experienced, the patient must have healthy hair that can be transplanted into this area. The ability of the skin to grow hair in the shedding area is also very important. Hair transplantation cannot be applied to people who experience hair loss due to drugs such as chemotherapy or to people who do not have enough donor hair area for hair transplantation. At the same time, since hair transplantation is an application performed by the transfer of the patient’s own hair, hair transplantation cannot be performed if the patient does not have strong hair areas.
People who have hair loss problem should first consult a doctor to find out the cause of this problem. With the examination and tests to be done, it can be learned why hair loss occurs. If the results show that the patient is a suitable candidate for hair transplantation, the hair transplantation operation can be performed by following the necessary steps.

Post-Hair Transplant Process

Most patients can return to work a few days after the hair transplant operation. There may be pain in the scalp, and accordingly, it may be necessary to take painkillers or antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection, together with the doctor’s advice.

It may be good to know that the transplanted hair will fall out within a few weeks after the operation, which is quite normal an deven expected. Loss of transplanted hair will cause new hair growth. Generally, 6 to 10 months after the hair transplant operation, the desired results begin to appear and the dreams of our patients become fulfilled.
